As the Communications specialist for Greater Africa, you will own the comms agenda for Africa, launching external & internal campaigns to inspire, motivate and engage teams across the region. Forge a strong identity for the teams and energise the region to meet our ambitious targets. You will also lead all external communication, from reputation building to product campaigns across digital & offline channels.

Cultural immersion programs
This will include writing and issuing press releases, owning our digital strategy, pitching for media interviews, and coordinating media calls. You will monitor media; issue invites to events and coordinate RSVPs and coordinate content creation.
You will also collaborate with a diverse marketing team to organise, create, and publish our monthly e-newsletter and other programs to keep the fire going.
We are looking for a passionate and creative individual who is detail oriented and goal driven.

Key responsibilities

Develop and Implement Effective Communication Strategies:

  • Inspire, motivate, and engage our team across Africa, amplifying internal messages creatively.
  • Safeguard and enhance Kerry’s reputation with current & potential customers through media engagement & relations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team including HR, sales capability & customer marketing to develop campaigns.
  • Leverage various channels
  • (newsletters, intranet, townhalls, social media, etc.) to engage Kerry team (Africa & global).
  • Monitor, measure & report Kerry’s reputation on the continent with customers, suppliers, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage Africa GM & GA leadership team’s comms calendar (strategy, content & excellent execution), secure media engagements and report.

Brand Management and Reputation Building:

  • Create, (in collaboration with channel heads) and execute comprehensive plans & content calendars to communicate and generate leads for our value propositions across Greater Africa (revenue driving campaigns).
  • Collaborate with team, agencies or freelancers where needed to deploy effective external communication campaigns.
  • Monitor industry trends and adapt communication strategies accordingly.
  • Support with strategic marketing initiatives in East Africa.

Content Creation and Editing:

  • Draft compelling content for press releases, social media, and presentations to produce high-quality materials.
  • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our brand voice.

Event Coordination and Public Relations:

  • Organise and manage public events, press conferences, and media interactions.
  • Manage media inquiries and requests for interviews or statements.
  • Provide communication guidance to company leaders and spokespersons

Crisis and Emergency Communications:

  • Be prepared to handle crisis situations and communicate effectively during emergencies.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) as a Digital Manager, Community Manager, Corporate Communications Specialist, or similar roles.
  • Strong writing, copy editing, and presentation skills.
  • Competence with digital & mobile best practice, PR campaigns, media relations, media buying, paid mobile & social media campaigns.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
