Key Responsibilities:

  1. To coordinate ASWiMs advocacy and communications efforts

  • Feed into, finalize and internally communicate with ASWiMs and Advocacy Plan.

  • Ensure the programme is consistently using uniform messages from the Communications and Advocacy Plan

  • Organize events, meetings and campaigns to ensure that the advocacy plan is active and moving forwards.

  • Collect and document project stories for sharing, learning and advocacy.

  • Create a map of partners in the areas of each objective of advocacy plan.

  • Engage partners in line with the advocacy and communications objectives and positively influence decision makers.

  • Develop ASWiM visibility framework.

  • Ensure there is continuous information flow on advocacy events, meetings, initiatives between ASWiM and other key players.

  • Ensure effective communication between ASWiM and its partners.

  1. Support to the ASWiM’s Professionalization agenda
  • Collaborate with staff in general planning and review meetings.

  • Support the development of press briefings, engagement with high level authorities on the bill.

  • Participate in capacity building of staff where appropriate and relevant.

  • To undertake any other initiatives to achieve the stated objectives.

  1. General

  • Whenever possible undertake exciting and interesting initiatives to disseminate the ASWiM agenda and general professionalization of social work agenda.

  • Ensure that the work is carried out at all times with the utmost of privacy and confidentiality in accordance with the terms and conditions of employment.

  • As delegated represent ASWiM at meetings with partners.

  • Commit to promoting equality in terms of race, gender, culture, sexual orientation, and disability, so that ASWiM is recognized as an open and welcoming resource that challenges discrimination and works to address needs of disadvantaged groups.

  • Undertake any other work that is requested for on-going ASWiM – ANAPA project during the duration of the contract and which the management team deem that the officer has the skills to support and/or contribute to for the further development of the project of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a university degree in communication, social science, behavioral change communication, strategic communication, journalism, public relations, or related field.

  • Experience in Advocacy work with marginalized and vulnerable groups.

  • Excellent oral/written communication skills in English and one or more additional Malawi local languages a plus.

  • At least two years of experience in implementing and managing communication or advocacy projects or campaigns in health and developing context.

  • Right to work in Malawi.
