Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Supporting the design and implementation of country and partner specific communications strategies, policies and work plans
- Researching, developing and creating content for a variety of communications, including internal newsletters, social media posts, web stories, videos and the HerStory Podcast Series
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to collect the required background information, statistics and success stories for communications needs
- Contributing to the design and implementation of outreach and marketing strategies, primarily targeting young women in the program countries
- Providing mentorship to women entrepreneurs in effective marketing and communications tools and strategies for social business activities
- Supporting organizational learning and capacity strengthening with HerStart partners, staff and fellows on communications, marketing and digital media topics
- Contributing to the ongoing development of a high quality HerStart photo library
- Further building out the HerStart Toolkit and fellowship databases
- Engaging in holistic fellowship orientation and training opportunities, which include themes such as human-centred design, ethical volunteerism, climate action and gender equality

Desired Qualifications for this Position
- Experience in designing communications strategies, plans and materials
- Experience or strong interest in podcast and/or video production
- Strong digital communications skills, including web, email and social media management
- Skilled at storytelling, including success stories and lessons learned
- Strong research, writing and design skills, with high attention to detail
- Tech-savvy with knowledge of diverse platforms and interest in learning new ones (including Canva, Slack, Airtable and Mighty Networks)
- Passion for learning, facilitation and supporting the knowledge and skill development of others
- Excellent organization and time management skills, including the ability to work independently
- Ability to be proactive, flexible and take initiative
- Committed to working with others in an equitable and inclusive manner
- Ability to effectively collaborate with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes openness to differing opinions and views
Eligibility Requirements

- Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Fluent or professional level English skills (written and verbal)
- Demonstrated interest in the fields of international development, gender equality, climate action and/or social entrepreneurship
- Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary institution (or have equivalent work experience)
- Ability to commit to the full length of placement, including pre and post training
- Access to a personal computer for duration of placement
