The communication Intern will support the formulation and implementation of the communications strategy to increase the standing and awareness of Copper Rose Zambia with partners, the media, and the public. The communication Intern will promote a client-oriented approach to CRZ’s work.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Digital Communication Management:
  • Managing all digital communication platforms, including social media, websites, and other information dissemination tools used by the organization.
  • Ensuring the consistency of communication tools with the organization’s advocacy strategy.
  • Coordinating the production of a diverse range of information products, including audio/visual communications, when needed to achieve specific goals.
  1. Public Awareness and Advocacy:
  • Supporting increased awareness of the organization’s mandate and goals through the dissemination of information and organization of public events.
  • Organizing publicity, advocacy, knowledge-sharing events, and promotional opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to increase and improve public outreach.
  • Leading the process of knowledge dissemination at all levels and producing documents that capture the right stakeholders and production of knowledge-based products.
  1. Media Liaison and Content Creation:
  • Liaising with media outlets to ensure that the appropriate information and messages are reaching the public, including preparing press releases.
  • Developing and implementing project communication strategies and providing inputs, content development, coordination of production, and dissemination of press releases, publications, articles, and sharing of project knowledge and successes.
  • Supporting any consultants hired to work on advocacy and communications.
  1. Information Database and Training:
  • Maintaining an information database and photo library.
  • Organizing training for staff on effective communication.
  1. Other Duties and Support:
  • Performing other duties as required.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of programs under the organization.

In addition to individual tasks, the communications officer will be expected to:

  • To adhere to CRZ values and to actively promote their application amongst colleagues and stakeholders.
  • To undertake tasks in a creative, self-driven and innovative fashion
  • To identify and implement additional tasks/ideas of benefit to the organisation.

 Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in mass communication or related field.
  • Exposure and expertise in graphic design principles, e-communications, social media, internet, and Journalism skills will be an added advantage.
  • At least 1 year of work experience with an NGO or Communications Agency
  • Interest in youth engagement, health systems, sexual reproductive health, and rights advocacy is key

 The communications Intern will be expected to have the following skills and attributes:

  • Ability to use a range of personal computer software applications, including desktop publishing, PPT, excel, canvas, and Word to support and enhance work.
  • Professional level of skills in proposal and publications development with writing and editing experience
  • Skill in writing for a range of audiences, including the capacity to write and edit news and feature articles.
  • Ability to write/edit in a variety of writing styles; ability to draft materials on a wide range of topics.
  • Exceptional verbal and written presentation skills
  • Resource mobilization skills, Innovative spirit, and willingness to use creative thinking.
  • Team player with leadership skills, abilities, and a desire to interact with people at all levels.
  • Demonstrated dedication to working effectively with underserved, at-risk, and vulnerable populations.
  • Knowledge of electronic media such as Websites, e-newsletters, social media, & other e-platforms
