What is the role?
We’re looking for a part-time Compliance & Regulatory Officer in Malawi to help us achieve that future.
As a Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Officer, you will provide compliance advisory, guidance and support to the Business Units (BUs) and enable stakeholders to grow the business in the right way, in compliance with prevailing regulatory/industry requirements.
The position is expected to require, on average, no more than 1-2 business days per week from the chosen candidate.
Your main duties will include:
You will support the Head of Compliance to deliver the following key deliverables:
Compliance Advisory
Work with BUs to provide local compliance advisory, guidance and support for their initiatives including development, implementation and maintenance of robust policies, procedures and practices to address regulatory, and industry and requirements/concerns
Advising others on local regulatory and compliance matters
Ensuring compliance with all local regulatory requirements.
Monitoring and Implementation of Regulatory/Industry Changes
Monitor regulatory and industry developments for any new, amended or upcoming laws/regulations/guidelines and identify any potential business impact to the business
Participate in consultations/surveys of regulatory requirements and industry guidelines where required
Maintaining regulatory documentation database.
Reporting
Compile, prepare, review and submit regulatory submission to authorities.
Other
Help for all audits so that organisation and government standards on products / processes are met
Be primary liaison to the regulatory authorities in the local market
Undertake ad-hoc tasks, projects or reviews as directed by Regulatory Affairs/Head of Compliance

You are a perfect fit if you have:
Bachelor’s Degree in law/ compliance/ business administration
4+ years of relevant experience working in compliance/regulatory field
Proven experience with handling multiple jurisdictions
Background experience working in payments/ banking/ FinTech industry
Are self-starter and result driven
Analytical mindset and sharp attention to details
Good business acumen and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills
Good understanding of the payment industry and operations
Good knowledge of regulations and industry guidelines applicable to the financial industry such as Payment Systems.
