The overall aim of the consultancy is to support the planning, roll-out, and evaluation of the EPiC training package pilot in the Africa region in March 2024. The consultancy is expected to support the preparatory work, participants selection process, and planning with facilitators and organizers before the training. It also aims to oversee the delivery of the training from an pedagogical perspective. Finally, the consultancy aims to evaluate the pilot and make the relevant adaptations to the training package based on the lessons learnt.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Expected tasks and deliverables
Pre training
- Participate in the training preparatory meetings and support training preparatory activities.
- Support the selection of facilitators and the preparation of their session outlines and handouts.
- Guide and support the selection of participants, and indicate what they need to prepare prior to the training.
Training
- Coordinate the training from a pedagogical perspective, ensuring a proper flow of sessions, coordinating with session facilitators on session outlines and logistical requirements, and overseeing the evaluation of participants.
- Gather feedback from participants, facilitators and observers about the package and the training.
Post training
- Develop a brief report with the main conclusions of the training, including the feedback gathered and the consultant’s own observations.
- Based on the above conclusions, make the relevant adaptations to the training structure and package.
Timeframe and location
The tasks are expected to require up to 20 days maximum to deliver the final products, including the participation in person in the training. The consultant can work remotely during the pre and post training phases. However, it is required that consultant travels to the training venue in Africa (TBD) to participate in person. IFRC will organize and cover travel costs, and organize logistics for the training for all participants.
Management
The consultancy will be managed by the global health security team in IFRC Geneva in coordination with the CP3 team in Africa region.
Experience
Required
- Experience and/or background training in public health, health in emergencies, epidemic response.
- Experience in the development of training packages and adult learning methodologies.
Preferred
- Prior experience working with the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Languages
Required
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skil
