- This role is responsible for providing quality standard of clinical care and expertise in assessment, diagnosis and treatment of paediatric patients requiring pediatric services in the hospital.
Key Result Areas (KRA)
The key result areas of this role are:
- Conduct regular and thorough examinations on new borns and young children to check and record their treatment.
- Examine children to determine their conditions and ask intuitive questions to gather information about their health.
- To provide quality medical care to children & neonates and supervise the delivery of quality healthcare by all junior medical personnel and nurses.
- Provide patient assessment and management. This will involve attending acute and elective admissions during normal working hours, review of inpatients and participating in ward rounds and clinics for paediatric care management.
- Contribute to quality patient care by participation in case planning which includes appropriate pre-admission planning, in-hospital care and discharge planning
- To supervise the execution of investigations, medical treatment and discharge.
- Participate in clinical audit and quality programs as appropriate.
- Communicate with patients and their families, where appropriate, about the patient’s diagnosis and management.
- To be fully abreast with the available clinical care protocols for paediatrics department and make adjustment where necessary
- Ensure all staff especially doctors complies with the hospitals care protocols.
- Must be involved in clinical research.
- Manage the administrative requirements of the hospital and patient care including ensuring discharge summaries and medico-legal correspondence are completed with no delay.
- Ensure good communication amongst all clinical staff with regards to patient care.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess an MBBS / MBChB qualification.
