BBC Media Action is putting together a pool of specialist advisory experts to help deliver
our democracy and governance and inclusive societies work around the world. This pool
will comprise people with diverse skillsets and expertise that we can draw on for current
and future programmes. Candidates accepted into the pool will then be considered for
short-term assignments, ranging from 1 day to a maximum of 8 weeks.
Areas of Support
Areas of support required may involve providing technical advice on how media and
communication effects positive change across relevant thematic areas (as above). This
might include support on project design and Theories of Change, development of
communication strategies and creative briefs, review of storyline outlines and scripts and
thematic training and mentoring.
Are you the right candidate?
• Strong experience of, and a proven reputation in, the role of media and
communication in supporting democracy, governance and inclusive societies
(combining any of, and not limited to: political participation, civic space,
accountability, transparency, anti-corruption, gender inclusion, disability inclusion,
social norms) Proficiency in adapting programming strategies to diverse political environments,
including those with varying levels of democratic freedoms and states of fragility
or emergency.
• Possess a nuanced understanding of the challenges and opportunities for those
living in the majority world, particularly the most underserved.
• Experience of working with multi-disciplinary, diverse and geographically
dispersed teams.
• Demonstrable commitment to inclusive and equitable approaches to democracy,
governance and inclusion work.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
• A relevant post graduate qualification or demonstrable record in delivering
relevant projects, research or learning.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required to deliver consultancy role.
