This position aims to ensure that Internal controls and accounting policies in Company Owned Company Operated (COCO) sites and convenience stores are well-designed, implemented, monitored, and evaluated to ensure smooth running of these sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for company-run stations and convenience stores.
- Participate in month-end closure procedures for all COCO and convenience stores including booking of incomes and expenses in the Oracle system by the 5th of the subsequent month.
- Participate in monthly/quarterly stock takes within COCO sites and convenience sites
- Review COCO/Shop TAR reconciliations and highlight areas for improvement, follow up, and ensure that timely action is taken to remedy any issues noted.
- Monitor and ensure the financial controls are strictly adhered to in accordance with company policy.
- Ensure correct and timely posting of COCO sites transactions into the ORACLE ERP System I.e. Invoices, Expenses, receipts, and Stock adjustments.
- Review transactions posted in station/shop accounting systems for accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct profitability analysis and any other such analysis to improve COCO and convenience stores performances.
- Visiting at least one station per quarter to assess the effectiveness of internal controls (stocks, cash, system, and operations) and activity reports. All stations should be visited at least twice a year.
- Preparation of assigned balance sheet/COCO/Shop reconciliations monthly, to be completed and submitted to the Chief Accountant by the 15th of every month.
- In liaison with the assigned territory managers, proactively detect and report any potential fraud.
- Conduct training for station and convenience store managers on finance issues, company policies, and procedures.
- Preparation of any other reports as requested by the COCO Accounting Manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Commerce or Economics
- Professional Accounting certification (CPA, ACCA)
- Experience in maintaining books using ERP systems.
- Minimum 2 years experience in retail business/supermarkets.
- Experience in preparing financial reports.
- Capable of meeting tight deadlines and working at odd hours including weekends
