Job description

A leading Community Bank operating in the Ahafo Region has vacancy for the position of Credit Manager.

Role Summary

• The Credit Manager shall be responsible for supervising, planning and coordinating the credit management function of the bank in accordance with best practices in the industry

Primary Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all regulatory and prudential returns
• Evaluate credit worthiness of potential customers before advancing credit facilities
• Appraise loan applications and make recommendations based on bank’s credit policies
• Monitor the credit performance of clients to avoid bad loans
• Develop credit risk assessment models to improve the credit risk associated with any loan
• Assist in reviewing and updating the bank’s credit policy and monitor to ensure policies and procedures are duly followed in all transactions
• Ensure that all regulatory considerations for credit management are observed by the bank
• Carry out other credit functions that may be assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• First Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Planning, Banking or similar qualification from a recognised university
• Professional qualification such as CA(GH), ACCA, ACIB, etc is an added advantage
• A postgraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, strategy or similar field is added advantage
• 4 to 7 years of post-qualification experience in Credit Administration or a similar role
• Proficiency in the use of Accounting software, T24 and Microsoft suite

Skills

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of employees
• Confidentiality and high standard of personal integrity
• Ability to interpret financial statements
• Understanding of rural and urban enterprise development and management
• Networking, influencing and stakeholder management communications at all levels both internally and externally
• Effective negotiation, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure

Knowledge

• Thorough knowledge of local banking legislations including the Borrowers and Lending Act, 2008 (Act 773), ARB Apex Bank Ltd Regulations, 2006 (L.I 1825 and Banks and Specialised Deposit Taking institution Act, 2016 (Act 930)
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Applications, i.e Word, excel, PowerPoint etc
• Good knowledge of Credit Management Processes and procedures
• Excellent knowledge in Banking software applications, especially the T24.
