The position is domiciled in the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics in the Faculty of Health Sciences, under the Fleming Fund Kenya Grant. This is a project that will be conducted in several hospitals in Kenya to strengthen surveillance of antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial use.

Location : The position will be based at the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics and will report to the Principal Investigator.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Update, write, validate and run statistical programs for monitoring and statistics (e.g. creation of datasets, tables, figures and listings).
  • Conduct data analysis and generate surveillance reports.
  • Assist with data cleaning and data management.
  • Prepare data documentation including data dictionaries, codebooks and data use manuals.
  • Summarize data and prepare routine and ad hoc reports and presentations to meet reporting requirements and requests for donors and stakeholders (e.g. PowerPoint, Dashboards).
  • Provide statistical programming expertise to project teams by preparing analytic data files, writing code for macros and utilizing macro libraries.
  • Develops and updates specifications for automated monitoring reports to be generated by study or project databases.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Specifications

  • Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Biostatistics, Applied Statistics, Data Science or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis (preferably using R and/or STATA) and statistical analysis with a high level of organization, autonomy, technical skill and team orientation
  • 3-5 years of related experience designing, managing and working directly with databases from research studies
  • Demonstrated writing skills: reports, presentations and/or protocols
  • Demonstrated experience executing statistical programs for the creation of tables, figures, listings and analysis databases
  • Demonstrated expertise in project- specific dataset/database structures and related data cleaning and coding methods
