: Assistant Commissioner Health services Health Information
Management
: 2-year renewable Contract
The Data Scientist serves as the technical officer for enterprise-level data science analytics and
forecasting. You will ensure data-driven decision-making for public health initiatives across the health
sector by providing insights and supporting data engineering and management efforts.
b) Key Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner Health Information Management for
performing the following duties
i. Develop and execute of the organization’s data science strategy.
ii. Develop and operationalise analytical methodologies, data governance frameworks and SoPs, and
emerging Al/ML technologies frameworks
Participate in the management of data Infrastructure and Governance-Design and maintain the
Ministry’s central data repository, ensuring secure and scalable data pipelines.
Enforce data governance, metadata management, and regulatory compliance across technical
Strategic Leadership
Collaborate with analysts to resolve data integrity issues and optimize processing frameworks
Lead the development and execution of the organization’s data science strategy.
Advanced Analytics-Oversee the deployment of predictive models, time series forecasts, and
simulation tools.
Participate in and support technical teams in rigorous statistical analysis and model validation.
Coordinate and Secure resources (new technical assistance and funding partners.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must hold Applicants should be Ugandans holding
• An Honours Bachelor Degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems,
Data Engineering, Data Science, Software engineering and Computer Engineering, Information
Security, Business Computing, Statistics, Telecom engineering, electrical engineering or Science
(with focus on computer science, mathematics)
A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics,
Biostatistics, or Public Health Informatics. Or related field from a recognized University/Institution
