Job description

Tiderise Technologies Inc. is looking for a Database Technician who will be responsible for completing tasks as assigned, in an accurate and efficient manner. The Database Technician will also work on other projects as deemed appropriate and as desired by the Team Lead, based on the Company’s strategy at any given time.

The Database Technician’s duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • A working knowledge of Azure Application Services, including Azure Kubernetes, and database services like Azure SQL Database and Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

  • Participate in, and in some cases lead, various initiatives as they pertain to Windows Server, Microsoft Server, Azure infrastructure, and database management.

  • Provide expertise and leadership in Microsoft Azure Cloud, with a focus on database services

  • Demonstrable knowledge in the following areas: Unix/Linux, Windows server O/S, Web/IIS, networking/LAN/WAN, Microsoft SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.

  • Implement, manage, and maintain database systems in both SQL Server and PostgreSQL environments, ensuring data integrity, security, and performance optimization.

  • Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for database systems; oversee data security, reliability, and availability; engage in capacity planning, usage monitoring, and performance tuning for databases.

  • Participate in system development activities, providing technical recommendations to application support teams and customers, with a special focus on database integration and management.

  • Assess and recommend release levels, updates, and optimizations for database servers.

  • Offer consulting and education to internal teams on database technologies and best practices.

  • Engage in research and development with an emphasis on emerging database technologies and trends.

  • Provide day-to-day technical support, including troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues.

  • Perform network and database troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common problems.

  • Serve as a senior escalation resource and a subject matter expert on existing infrastructure and database systems — available after-hours and on weekends to support any senior escalation requirement.

Eligibility

  • Post-secondary education in Computing, Business or Finance/Accounting.

  •  2-3 years of application support experience, preferably within a SaaS environment

  • Proven working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2017 (Scripting, Database

maintenance, Queries) and Microsoft Window Server 2016

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite

  • Experience with remote assistance technology

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and French
