Machakos County, nicknamed ‘Macha,’ was the first capital city of Kenya and is now an administrative county in Kenya. Machakos is made up of eight (8) constituencies including Machakos Town, Mavoko, Masinga, Yatta, Kangundo, Kathiani, Matungulu, and Mwala. Machakos Town is the administrative capital of the County.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing plans for strategic county projects and programmes
- Interpreting county policies
- Formulation of strategies
- Contacting thematic issue research on matters relating to strategic county project and programmes
- Supervising preparation of county urban and rural plans
- Implementing strategies for public education
- Participation and engagement
- Preparing annual state of physical planning reports on county projects /programmes
- Providing guidance to liaison committees and secretariats
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –
- Have at least eighteen (18) years of experience of which five (5) should be in Public Service
- Have a Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines Urban and Regional planning. Urban planning or town planning from a recognized institution
- Have a Masters degree in urban and regional planning, urban planning, or town planning from a recognized institution
- Be a corporate member of Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya (Town planning chapter)
- Be a registered by the physical planners Registration Board
- Have certificate in computer from a recognized institution
