Job Objective:

Our client in the FMCG industry is looking for an enthusiastic, driven, Deputy Lead Environmental Health and Safety officer. The EHS Deputy Lead is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in line with company policies. This role involves implementing and overseeing safety programs, coordinating with the occupational health and safety committee, and executing internal and external audits to maintain high safety and environmental management standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with all occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations as per company policies and legal requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor workplace safety programs to prevent accidents and improve employee well-being.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure proper control measures are in place.
  • Plan, execute, and coordinate internal and external audits for EMS (Environmental Management Systems) and OHSAS (Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series).
  • Lead and support the Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) committee, ensuring active participation and compliance.
  • Oversee safety training programs for employees, ensuring awareness and adherence to EHS policies.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, determine causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure emergency preparedness plans are up-to-date and conduct regular drills.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance reports for regulatory audits.
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure proper safety procedures in equipment handling and maintenance.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NEMA, and ISO 14001/45001 standards.
  • Experience in conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

 Preferred Skills:

  • Certification in IOSH, or other safety-related programs is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to train and influence employees on EHS best practices.
