The Director of Research and Innovation will provide strategic leadership in driving Mulungushi
University’s research, innovation, and development agenda. The position aims to foster a
research culture, promote innovation, and enhance the University’s visibility and impact at local,
regional, and global levels.
Qualifications and experience required:
i. Must have a Grade 12 School Certificate with at least five (05) Credits that must
include English Language and Mathematics
ii. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following from a reputable and accredited
University with at least a Merit : Research Management, Business Administration,
Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Technology Management, or Digital innovation
iii. Must have a Master’s degree in any of the following from a reputable and accredited
University: Research and Innovation Management, Technology and Innovation Studies,
Business Strategy, Project Management, Business Administration, or Entrepreneurship
iv. Must have a PhD in any of the following: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence,
Project Management, Business Administration, or Entrepreneurship with extensive
experience in research leadership, preferably in Industry or an academic institution
v. Must have proven track record of securing research funding
vi. Must have proof of publishing in high-impact journals with a minimum H-index of 6
vii. Must have experience in managing research projects, teams, and budgets
viii. Must have functional computer literacy skills
ix. Must be familiar with intellectual property rights, innovation ecosystems, and
commercialization processes
x. Must have strong networking and collaboration skills with industry, government, and academia
