The ADD Global Disability Leadership Academy mentors will be a multidisciplinary group, with members who have a range of experience, notably lived experience of disability, transformational Leadership skills, expertise, and skills from a broad range of disciplines relevant to leadership for young people.
Based on expertise, your roles will include:
- To offer guidance, mentorship, reflection and feedback on professional and personal matters related to the leadership development of persons with disabilities in the Academy.
- Strengthen persons with disabilities’ knowledge and competence in advocating for disability inclusion and other rights.
- Supporting persons with disabilities in developing valuable networks that can enhance the development and execution of their creative ideas.
- Equip persons with disabilities with digital skills for various activism causes.
- Sharing experiences on how to initiate, launch and run successful organisations or initiatives for persons with disabilities.
- Support persons with disabilities in learning, developing, and practicing leadership skills.
- Any other skills needed in the Global Disability Leadership Academy.
About you.
The Disability Justice Mentors should offer the following experience:
Work Experience
Leaders and representatives from organizations of persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
The following are considered assets:
- Demonstrated experience in providing leadership mentorship to young people, and advice on planning, implementation, and monitoring of programmes.
- Familiarity with disability rights and inclusion of disability in projects and programmes, as well as a foundational understanding of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and other international instruments and relevant frameworks.
- Experience working with OPDs, organisational strengthening and capacity building in any movement around the globe.
