OVERVIEW
URC is implementing the DHAPP-funded “Umbufto Lophilile Ngulonqoba iHIV”: HIV Epidemic Control for a Healthy Military Project with an overall goal to support the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini (GKoE) to reduce the number of new HIV infections and other STIs among members of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force (UEDF), their families, and the civilian communities served by the UEDF health services in Eswatini to support the 5 project objectives: a) HIV prevention interventions; b) HIV testing services; c) HIV/AIDS care and treatment; d) HIV clinical monitoring systems, and e) institutional capacity building.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The driver will ensure safe transportation of staff, clients, and items to and from various destinations. He will ensure that the company vehicles are well maintained, conducting mandatory morning and periodic inspection of the vehicles and ensuring the vehicle is always kept clean and in proper working condition.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Ensure time management in daily assignments, proper recording of mileage logbook as well as keep updated records related to vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, vehicle registration, insurance, safety etc.;
- Ensure proper maintenance of vehicles and that the vehicle checklist is completed and safely filed;
- Perform errands and ensure that supplies and commodities under the job holder’s custody are safely carried, delivered, and that the delivery is certified;
- Liaise with Head Driver on any developments on the condition and operability of vehicles on a day-to-day basis and report any traffic violations to the Head Driver;
- Transport staff and other personnel safely as per the arranged schedule;
- Operate the company vehicle in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed;
- Communicate passenger policies and ensure all passengers on board comply with the requirements;
- Ensure that all vehicle equipment required on the vehicle are functional and that the vehicle is in good working condition all the time;
- Carry out any other tasks consistent with the nature of this position.
- Reasonable knowledge of the country’s map as well routes;
- Courteous as well as good communication skills;
- Must be well behaved and be a responsible driver; must be team orientated and flexible;
- Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
- Valid Driver’s License;
- High School (Form 5) Certificate;
- Defensive Driver Training Certificate will be an added advantage;
- 3 years’ work experience as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in vehicle repair;
