Ensure that the electrical elements in the power plant run smoothly to generate power
Key Responsibilities:
Brief Description of duties or the responsibilities for the job
1. Obtain measurements and readings using electrical and mechanical testing instruments,
including digital multi meters, meggers, amp meters, ohm meters, and phase rotation
meters.
2. Coordinate maintenance work with other sections, contractors, and engineers; estimate
time, materials, and equipment required for repairs.
3. Examine various electrical systems and make recommendations for new equipment, repairs,
and modifications.
4. Perform installation of electrical conduit, equipment, branch circuits, and lighting. Hence
install, maintain, test, and repair plant lighting and electrical equipment.
5. Inspect electrical installations to determine maintenance requirements and procedures.
6. Install electrical equipment such as meters, instruments, relays and protection equipment,
controllers, switchgears, switchboards, transformers and control panels.
7. Carry out mechanical fitting and assembling works relevant to heavy current equipment,
and machine or fabricate parts for such equipment
8. Correctly instruct, supervise and transfer skill to any apprentice and semi-skilled worker
assigned to him to ensure safety and quality of work.
9. Execution of the preventative maintenance programs, as shall be instructed by the Electrical
Technician.
10. Keep plant/equipment performance and repair records to enable quality assessment
