Job description

As an Electrician you shall be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical installations, plant and equipment. You are also responsible for proper functioning of Electrical equipment for maximum efficiency and minimum downtime. You will work with the maintenance/Project Manager, and you will be responsible and accountable for project maintenance works.

QUALIFICATIONS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Diploma or better in Power Electrical Engineering
  • Proven experience as an Electrician
  • EIZ Certificate
  • Full grade Certificate
  • Minimum of Three years’ work experience in commercial/domestic or industrial experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform job duties may be considered
  • Creative visionary and able to be innovative
  • Self-motivated, proactive and confident
  • Experience working with a diverse team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The specific duties of the Electrical Technician will be as set out below but not limited to:

  • Perform maintenance and service repairs on electrical and mechanical systems.
    Installs new units or replace parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
  • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits etc
  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify hazards or malfunctions and repair or substitute damaged units
  • To be able to trouble shoot and to find faults on different types of commercial and industrial electrical equipment.
  • Analyse drawings for the purpose of identifying the location of new and existing electrical systems and determining the efficient installation of additional systems.
  • Coordinate with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Estimate materials and/or equipment needed to complete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Install electrical systems for the purpose of providing updated, enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities
  • Prepare documentation for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  • Raise requisitions to Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Install fixtures and equipment while ensuring safety compliance
    perform maintenance tasks to prevent system breakdowns
  • Assist the maintenance/Project Manager draw up planned maintenance schedules for equipment.
  • Make suggestions to the maintenance/Project Manager on how to improve work and improve effectiveness and efficiency
