Job Overview: The Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment in accordance with national standards and project requirements. The role demands valid certification and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Requirements:
- Install and maintain electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems according to site specifications and safety codes.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues and perform necessary repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Conduct preventive and routine maintenance of electrical systems.
- Use appropriate tools and testing equipment to diagnose faults and ensure proper system operation.
- Ensure compliance with the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) standards and other applicable regulations.
- Complete and submit reports on work performed, including timesheets, inspections, and checklists.
- Follow site safety procedures and actively participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or unsafe practices to the supervisor immediately.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Installation or a related field.
- Valid ERA Class C Installation Permit (mandatory).
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in industrial or construction environments.
- Strong knowledge of the Uganda Electricity Distribution Code and applicable safety standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
