Principal Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be assigned the following duties and responsibilities:
- Review and analyze project proposals to identify potential environmental and social risks.
- Conduct field visits to project sites to assess compliance with ESMF and safeguard policies.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement mitigation measures.
- Prepare environmental and social impact assessments and management plans.
- Provide guidance to project manager and PMT on safeguard-related matters.
- Engage with local communities, Community Based Organizations and Common Interest Groups, and other stakeholders.
- Monitor project implementation and evaluate safeguard performance.
- Report on safeguard compliance to relevant authorities and donors.
- Contribute to capacity-building workshops and training sessions.
Experience, skills and knowledge requirements
- A degree in environmental science, social sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in environmental and social safeguard assessments.
- Knowledge of international safeguard standards (e.g., IFAD, World Bank).
- Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
