Tasks and responsibilities
The main responsibilities and tasks planning, coordinating, and facilitating (a) strategic studies to inform the design and implementing of BRAVE, (b) strengthening institutional arrangements for improved effective preparedness for humanitarian responses and implementation for climate resilience pilots; c) screening priority scalable climate resilience pilots on integrated climate-resilient village models, and (d) establishing knowledge management systems for providing products and services for supporting upscaling of most promising integrated climate resilient village models.
The incumbents will undertake the following specific tasks:
• Identification of target villages and beneficiaries based on the validated selection criteria,
• Formation of village committees and Farmer Field Schools following the standard guidelines
• Establish linkages and partnership with relevant stakeholders including consortium partners, government counterparts, and downstream partners for collaborative project implementation.
• Support studies planned under the project including baseline, multi-hazard vulnerability assessments, and screening of priority climate-resilient technologies.
• Undertake participatory preparations of integrated community climate-resilient plans and budgets for piloting priority scalable nature-based climate resilient technologies
• Support the implementation of community-based climate resilient technologies including on-farm climate resilient agriculture practices (good livestock and agronomic practices), integrated watershed management practices, and sustainable management of forests and rangelands.
• Support humanitarian-peace nexus initiatives.
• Facilitate participatory process monitoring, impact evaluation, and peer-learning on showcased climate-resilient models.
• Perform any other associated task as assigned by management.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in natural resources management domains including integrated watershed management, sustainable agro-ecological systems, sustainable management of forest and rangelands among others.
• Demonstrated experience in ecosystem-wide governance and management
• Proven knowledge and skills in remote-sensing and Geographic Information System will be an address opportunity
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
• Proven track record of working on similar assignments.
• Working knowledge of English. Familiarity of local languages is desirable.
