Key Responsibilities
- Project Implementation and Forest Management
- Supervise the establishment, maintenance and monitoring of forest plantations, focusing on carbon sequestration and ecological conservation.
- Conduct regular field assessments to ensure tree health, soil stability, and sustainable forestry practices.
- Assist in project planning, including site selection, species selection, and management plans, in alignment with carbon removal goals.
- Carbon Monitoring and Reporting
- Collect and record data for carbon sequestration measurements, growth rates, and other forest metrics in accordance with project guidelines.
- Assist in compiling reports on forest health, and progress of the plantation establishment, providing data-driven insights to the TREEO Forester.
- Ensure accurate documentation and timely submission of field reports to support monitoring and reporting.
- Community Engagement and Capacity Building
- Build positive relationships with local communities, providing guidance on sustainable forestry practices and the importance of carbon conservation.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance community understanding of forest conservation, carbon sequestration, and their roles in project success.
- Collaborate with community leaders and local authorities to address challenges, secure buy-in, and promote conservation best practices.
- Operational Support and Logistics
- Maintain project equipment, supplies, and materials required for fieldwork, ensuring efficient use of resources.
- Travel frequently within Nwoya district and surrounding project sites to supervise plantation activities and ensure project alignment with TREEO’s objectives.
- Report on any issues, challenges, or opportunities identified in the field, proposing solutions to optimize project impact.

Required Background
- Education: Minimum of a Diploma in Forestry or a related field.
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in forest plantation establishment, management, and/or conservation projects. Experience with carbon-focused projects is an advantage.
- Technical Skills: Strong data collection and reporting abilities, particularly for carbon measurement metrics; knowledge of GIS and mapping tools is a plus.
- Language: Proficiency in Acholi, Langi, and English to facilitate effective community engagement.
- Additional Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, a team-oriented approach, and a commitment to environmental conservation and carbon reduction efforts.
- Mobility: Valid motorcycle license and the ability to ride a motorcycle are essential, as the role involves frequent travel within the district.
