RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Management

  • Develop and maintain financial systems and procedures to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare and monitor budgets, ensuring adherence to approved spending limits and cost allocation principles.
  • Conduct regular financial analysis and provide reports to management, highlighting areas of concern or improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide guidance on financial matters and assist in developing financial plans.

Grants and Awards Management

  • Coordinate the entire grants and awards lifecycle, from proposal development and submission to financial reporting and closeout.
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and requirements, including timely submission of financial reports and monitoring of budget expenditures.
  • Provide support in financial aspects of proposal development, including budget preparation, cost analysis, and budget justification.
  • Maintain accurate records of grants and awards, including tracking of milestones, deliverables, and financial commitments.

Problem Solving

The Finance and Grants Manager should demonstrate problem-solving skills to identify financial challenges and address them. They will analyze discrepancies or issues related to financial data, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.

The Finance and Grants Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve financial and operational challenges, fostering a problem-solving culture within the organization.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and ensure they are completed accurately and on time.
  • Exercise sound judgment and initiative in decision-making, seeking guidance as needed.

  • Provide financial recommendations and insights to support decision-making processes.
  • Assess financial risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of financial policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Knowledge and Application

  • Stay up-to-date with financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices in grants and awards management.
  • Apply financial knowledge and expertise to support strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Share financial knowledge to enhance organizational capacity.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  •  Demonstrated experience in financial management and grants administration, preferably in a nonprofit or global health organization.
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations and donor requirements (e.g., USAID, World Bank, UN agencies).
  • Proficiency in financial management software and tools (e.g., Excel, ERP systems).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is an advantage.
