Reporting
- Assist with review of month end trial balance and ensure all deliverables and GL disclosures are met according to the monthly and quarterly timelines applicable for regulatory reporting
- Assist with Liaising with the Financial Decision Support (FDS) team to ensure that all product and segmental information is reported correctly
- Assist with ensuring that all mapping and exco codes are correctly feeding into SAP to ensure that we have no issues on consolidation into group and for Group regulatory reporting.
- Responsible to ensure that all quarterly reporting on HFM or other relevant reporting platforms is done in within the given deadlines
- Responsible for the reconciliation of intercompany balances and clearance of these.
- Preparation of statutory financial statements using CaseWare or other applicable tools in good time to expected standard to facilitate early sign off of financial statements.
- Analytical review on both the income statement and balance sheet on a monthly basis which should form the basis of the commentary pack which is sent back to regional FC team
- Responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of all regulatory reports including but not limited to the monthly prudential return, BA 610, Basel II parallel run reports, quarterly publications, SEC Reports.

- Assist with managing the relationship with external auditors
- Maintain close relations with the Central Bank and other applicable Regulatory Bodies
- Maintain Relationship with Group Regulatory Reporting team.

- Understand risks and risk events (incidents) which are faced in the role thereby contributing to the adherence to the Group Risk and Control Framework.

Knowledge, Expertise and Experience
- Detailed understanding of the objectives of Absa and how they are translated to financial objectives.
- Thorough knowledge of the banking products/services offered, as this will determine the accounting treatment in the books of the bank.
- Knowledge in Bank’s strategic objectives and systems
- Relevant first degree and Accounting professional qualification
- Experience in a Finance role in the banking industry
