TechnoServe is seeking a Food Fortification Senior Coordinator for the anticipated five year LSSFA Activity. The successful candidate will apply a whole-of-business approach with food processors to improve and sustain their compliance with quality standards, leading to increased availability of fortified staple foods. The Senior Coordinator will gather and use information to identify support needs and assess the feasibility of new approaches to and provide technical support and advisory services, and ensure the highest standard of quality and delivery of project interventions.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities:
● In collaboration with the Food Fortification Senior Specialist, provide contextualized, data-informed technical advisory services to individual food processors that address gaps in business and technical capacity, with particular attention to good food fortification practices
● Support the delivery of training initiatives in a range of settings, such as in-person workshops or on-the-job trainings
● Conduct data collection and analysis on specific topics as needed
● Support sector-wide trainings (SWT) conducted in partnership with local training service providers on topics such as fortification technology, food safety and quality control, business strategy, and financing
● Translate key learning and best practice into knowledge products that facilitate the sharing of knowledge across the team and with key stakeholders, such as standard operating procedures, training materials, or other guidance documents
● Support the development of reports, presentations, project briefs, and other knowledge products
● Ensure timely completion and oversight of assigned tasks, in line with the project work plan.
Basic Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology, Health Sciences, Food Control, Nutrition or other related field
● Minimum 2 years of professional experience in the food processing sector, or Masters’s degree plus one year of related professional experience
● Familiarity with large-scale food fortification
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Ability to engage with a wide range of actors including those in the private sector, the development partners and governments
● Strong communications skills (both written and verbal) at a level appropriate for representation with industry stakeholders
● Experience in capacity-strengthening and training; experience in on-the-job support preferred
● Skills in data management and analysis
● Maturity, initiative, courtesy, tact, and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
