To effectively contribute to the successful learning experiences of students through effective teaching that meets or exceeds the standards of the institution and results in high levels of student retention and achievement, and course management as required.
MAIN DUTIES
- Deliver high quality teaching to students
- Design, develop and review teaching activities and materials
- Maintain an understanding of professional practice in the Media industry to inform personal teaching practice
- Contribute to program review and design
- Give effective advice, guidance and feedback to students, to support their academic progress
- Enhance student experience and outcomes by exposing students to practical industry activities.
- Prepare and mark student assessments
- Come up with a teaching guides and work plans.
- Engage in research activities, attend local and international conferences and publish their research findings in reputable journals and write books as appropriate.
The Candidate must be competent in at least five (05) of the following courses;
- Mass Communication
- Reporting
- Sub Editing
- Media Ethics and Law
- Public Relations
- Newsroom Journalism
- Advertising
- International and Intercultural Communication
- Public Speaking
- Development Communication
- Media Management
- Investigative Journalism
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Full Grade Twelve Certificate,
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field from a reputable University,
- Master’s Degree in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field from a reputable University,
- A PhD will be an added advantage.
- Teaching/research experience of at least 5 years in a reputable institution.
- At least 3 years of industrial experience.
