Responsibilities

Capacity Building & Training:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on GBV response, tailored to the needs of various stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, CSOs, and FBOs.
  • Develop training materials, guides, and tools that align with global GBV standards and adapt them to the local context, particularly in conflict settings.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and other learning sessions to enhance the technical skills and knowledge of stakeholders in GBV prevention and response.
  • Support One stop center, health facilities, Police and legal aid providers to improve quality of Post GBV response services through evidence-based approaches.
  • Support Clinical and Non- clinical GBV response service providers comply with accepted service quality standards.
  • Provide support to other Jhpiego programs when deemed necessary.

Technical Assistance:

  • Provide ongoing technical support to national and local government authorities in conducting GBV service providers’ landscape mapping assessments.
  • Advise on the integration of GBV considerations into existing and new programs, policies, and practices within governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Support the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and referral pathways to strengthen the GBV response mechanisms.

Collaboration & Partnerships:

  • Foster strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities, international organizations, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Promote multi-sectoral collaboration to ensure a coordinated approach to GBV prevention and response.
  • Identify and engage potential partners to support capacity-building initiatives and resource mobilization efforts.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of capacity-building activities.
  • Regularly review and update training materials and methodologies based on feedback and evolving needs.
  • Prepare reports, case studies, and documentation of best practices to inform future GBV response initiatives.

Advocacy & Policy Influence:

  • Advocate for the integration of GBV response mechanisms into national and local policies and programs.
  • Provide strategic input to influence policy development and reform related to GBV response and prevention.

Knowledge Management and sharing:

Liaise with Jhpiego and partners’ technical experts to ensure that program strategies and interventions are technically sound and evidence based.

Identify programmatic successes, challenges and lessons learned, and document these systematically for internal use and external audiences.

Promote an organizational learning culture; and

Disseminate program learning through technical reports, conference abstracts, and peer-reviewed publications

Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges encountered during capacity-building activities.

Share knowledge and best practices through networks, conferences, and publications.

Business Development

  • Identify new strategies for program implementation.
  • Identify and communicate potential opportunities for new business development

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Public Health, Human Rights, International Development, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in GBV response, gender equality, or women’s rights, with a focus on capacity building.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing and delivering GBV Response training in Ethiopia and/or in the Horn of Africa.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GBV response service and MHPSS in different areas in Ethiopia.
  • Experience in using low-cost technologies to conduct assessments of a similar nature.
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs and technical assistance in conflict-affected settings.
  • Demonstrable competency in designing curricula, pedagogical courses, education performance improvement standards, teaching and competency-based assessment.
  • Mentoring and coaching skills.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform.
  • Strong background in working with government entities and international organizations on GBV issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent training and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in complex, multi-cultural environments and adapt to changing contexts.
  • Proficiency in M&E methodologies and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Amharic and/or Afan Oromo.
  • Computer Literacy (Word, Excel and power point)
