The GESI Manager will provide technical leadership for GESI-related tasks and ensure that gender, youth and social inclusion considerations are integrated throughout implementation. The GESI Manager will provide technical input to all SRPS activities, ensuring that gender, youth and social inclusion policies and initiatives are taken into account in the implementation, measurements and research. The GESI Manager will be responsible for ensuring meaningful participation of women, youth and marginalized groups throughout SRPS management and staffing, annual work planning, interventions, monitoring and the MEL/CLA. The GESI Manager will supervise a team including a Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Specialist and a Program Specialist. The GESI manager will report to DCOP-Technical.
- MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical leadership in agenda setting for mainstreaming, implementation, evaluation and reporting on gender, youth and marginalized groups.
- Provides technical assistance and training on GESI awareness to the SRPS team, regional and national government partners, and grant recipients.
- Designs and delivers GESI training, including developing or obtaining resource materials.
- Ensure compliance with USAID, national and regional policies relating to gender and inclusive development, women, peace and security, strategy development, program design and implementation and monitoring and evaluation, where applicable.
- Conducts a baseline GESI analysis, in collaboration with the program team and partners, to design a GESI strategy and support gender mainstreaming.
- Oversees and contributes to the activity and grant development process ensuring it is equitable, accessible, and inclusive for minority- and women-owned and operated entities.
- Works with the technical team and potential grantees/partners/grants to ensure that training and technical assistance provided by the program exemplify best practices of the GESI initiative.
- Contribute to monitoring and evaluation activities focused on the GESI initiative and support the design and implementation of indicators related to the GESI initiative.
- Leverage formal and informal networks of CSOs in the region with specialist skills or access to vulnerable communities and key geographies to support the achievement of strategic program objectives.
- QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, women’s studies, political economy, international development or a related field; master’s degree preferably.
- At least 5 years of technical experience in donor-funded GESI programming; USAID experience preferred.
- Technical expertise in gender-specific approaches to preventing and responding to sexual violence, peacebuilding and/or stabilization.
- Technical expertise on women, youth, marginalized groups and social inclusion in the context of governance, conflict prevention, regional peacebuilding and resilience.
- Experience and knowledge of issues related to gender mainstreaming and social inclusion in West Africa.
- Strong skills in analysis, data collection and community interaction.
- Knowledge and skills in planning, monitoring, training, organizing and facilitating workshops.
- Fluency in French and English is required.
