The Gender Equality & Social Inclusion Coordinator will coordinate and deliver program activities and technical support to stakeholders and project staff to achieve project results. This GESI Coordinator will work across all project results streams supporting implementation of the gender equality and social inclusion strategy, and must be a team player. The GESI Coordinator will be required to travel to projects sites within northern Ghana and on occasion to Accra on behalf of the project.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Promote gender equality and inclusion programmatically across all project activities
  • Apply GBA+ to planned activities and to understand the context for gender equality and social inclusion as it relates to project implementation
  • Mainstream gender equality and social inclusion policies and practices in all project tools, processes and products
  • Provide GESI analysis and technical support to project staff, consultants and stakeholders to analyze and address gender equality issues
  • Coordinate and implement GESI strategy based on annual work plans
  • Organize and facilitate technical training and workshops using GBA+ for partners and beneficiaries
  • Facilitate the learning and skills development of project staff and stakeholders to better understand and analyze the gender barriers and consequences of unpaid care work on women, men, girls, boys, families and communities
  • Facilitate GESI activities and support the implementation and use of GESI analysis findings throughout the program cycle, including collection, analysis and reporting of sex-disaggregated and other gender sensitive data to contribute to adaptive and evidence-based decision making and proper reporting and contribute to learning and adaptation process
  • Recommend activities and interventions to address identified barriers in support of the project’s gender results
  • Provide an intersectional lens to data collection and analysis tools created by the MEL team, including Gender Progress Markers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Gender Studies, Social Development, Community Development or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment work for international development philanthropic organization
  • Experience integrating GESI principles and practices into project documents and activities using internationally accepted GBA practices
  • Experience of working in partnership with NGO networks, and preferably women’s rights organizations (WROs) through principles of power-sharing and accompaniment
  • Familiarity with the Care Economy and unpaid care and domestic work issues
  • Strong research and analytical skills; well-organized and attention to detail
  • Public speaking, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
  • Understanding of project management processes, strong computer skills using MS Word suite of software
  • Demonstrated excellence in written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
