Ensure safe work practices, i.e., attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Conduct ground conditions and support installation audits to ensure compliance to ground support standards.
Able to conduct stoping inspections.
Design cable bolts & perform standard ground support designs.
Assist in underground infrastructure inspections.
Facilitate Ground Control training to Inductees.
Record stock levels for ground support.
Produce daily & weekly stope and development heading inspection reports.
Conduct Geotechnical core logging.
Prepare stope note assessments.
Prepare stope closure notes.
Conduct geotechnical mapping.
Installation of monitoring instrumentation.
Conduct QA/QC of all installed ground support in the underground workings.
Conduct QA/QC of paste fill/shotcrete samples
Qualification requirements:
Diploma in Mining Engineering, Civil, Geology or equivalent
Must Have Valid Driving License
Skills / knowledge requirements:
Proficiency in mine design software, Mine CAD, Deswik, Surpac
Good Communication skills
Ability to interpret mine layouts
Able to maintain accurate records and reports
Knowledge of underground mapping and core logging techniques
Experience and competencies needed:
Minimum 2 years working on underground mining as Geotechnical Technician.
