Geospatial Information Technician is responsible for delivery of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) & development of GIS applications, services & products, specificĀ tasks include but are not limited to:
- Compile large scale operation maps & small scale briefing / report maps.
- Perform collecting processes & evaluate geographic data including vector, raster & thematic data.
- Design, develop, maintain & use spatial databases as well as spatial data management tools.
- Design symbology, templates & other related cartographic & geovisualization products.
- Conduct spatial & terrain analysis studies & the prediction of the effects of terrain, weather & situations on the mission’s operations.
- Generate 3D visualization products.
- Produce & maintain web map services & web map applications.
- Oversee the performing of Quality Control / Quality Assurance (QC / QA) on all products generated & disseminated by the section, including procedures on all extracted features & retrieved parameters, geo data & maps.
- Conduct satellite imagery processing for remote sensing projects & tasks, i.e. image interpretation, analysis, image classification, rectification, feature extraction, photogrammetric models, etc.
- Planning & overview of field surveys for geospatial data collection & truth verification.
- Ensure the archiving of geographic data & maintaining the mission’s geo database system.
- Ensure that data security, data acquisition & data share policies are in place.
- Ensure the archiving & maintenance of map production & map catalogues.
- Assist in the incorporation of innovative technologies in geospatial & remote sensing products & services, i.e. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Extended Reality (XR) (AR – MR – VR), etc.
