Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The Head of Community Health Division within Africa CDC shall:
- Provide technical leadership for the division of Community Health and manage and supervise employees within the division with regard to the department goals objectives including performance evaluation.
- Lead the team to set goals, priorities and performance indicators for the unit and design and plan policy programs to achieve the strategies.
- Lead Continental strategy for capacity building of Member states, scaling-up, and strengthening of the Community Health Workforce on the African continent.
- Engage stakeholders within Members States and RCCs in designing and implementing strategies to develop community health systems and programs.
- Assist the Director to coordinate efforts to develop Africa CDC legal frameworks, technical standards, tools, and operational platforms and policies, guidance, and mechanisms to guide and facilitate the implementation, evaluation and provision of feedback.
- Lead the establishment, implementation and sustainability of the Continental Community Health Coordination Mechanisms.
- Lead the development of monitoring and evaluation systems for Community Health in Africa.
- Advise the Director of Disease Control and Prevention on all partner-related activities that affect the vaccine roll-out programme including policy, programmes, projects and initiatives.
- Support the Director in developing, preparing and presenting memoranda, briefings, facilitating partner negotiations, performance management of partners, staff papers and other materials
- Coordinate or directly prepare talking points and briefing materials for meetings held by the Director
- Address emerging concerns or delays in a timely manner, and if not possible to resolve, escalate to the Director.
- Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline such as, but not limited to, public health, Nursing, Healthcare, social science (e.g., population and development), epidemiology, health-services research and related fields. MD or PhD will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- At least 12 (twelve) years of progressive experience in public health program management with special emphasis on health system strengthening or community health development specifically in community health system at regional, or global levels including at least 7 (seven) and 5 (five) years’ experience at managerial and supervisory level respectively.
Language:
- Applicants must be proficient in at least one of the AU languages. Knowledge of one or more additional African Union working languages would be an added advantage.
