Job description

Duties and roles shall include, but are not limited to:
Taking responsibility forthe History Department;
Teaching History (FET & GET), applying differential Lesson plansto meet the educational needs, abilities and achievements of the individual pupil and groups
of pupils;Providing academic support through extra lessons
or providing extension activities;
Keeping abreast of developments and best practice in teaching History;
Incorporating thinking skillsto fosterindependent, critical and creative thinkers;
Communicating effectively and developing relationships at all levels with pupils,staff and parents;
Ensuring a disciplined classroom environment; Collaborating with colleagues, must be a team
player;
Participating fully in the life and extracurricular programme of the School, including pastoral care,
sport, outdoor education and otherschool events/functions;
Incorporating the ethos and values of the School into all aspects of education;
General administration.

Skills & Requirements:

An appropriate professional teaching qualification from a recognised institution (university degree and professional qualification);
Previous History teaching experience (FET and GET) is essential; A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership role (Head of Department: History); Previous experience gained in an IEB school and an
understanding of Cooperative Education is advantageous;
Knowledgeable and intellectually inquisitive with the drive and passion for developing and caring for children;
An open and creative outlook to education and keeping up with the latest trendsin education;
Ability to adapt to change;
Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills(with pupils,staff and parents);
Excellent organisational and time managementskills; Exceptional administration skills, including computerliteracy, and
the ability to use technology to enhance the learning experience; A willingnessto develop inspiring, contemporary teaching
material;
Ability to promote and embrace diversity and inclusion; Willingness and commitment to contribute to the School’s extracurricular,sports and outdoor education programmes;
SACE registered with the requisite clearance certificates.
