The Head of the Institute is responsible for providing visionary leadership and strategic direction for the institute’s overall administration, academic excellence, research, and development.
The HOI will lead the institute in achieving its mission of advancing knowledge, promoting sustainable sanitation practices, and developing innovative waste management solutions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance the institute’s mission and
goals.
Foster a culture of innovation, academic excellence, and research in sanitation
and waste management.
Establish partnerships and collaborations with national and international
organizations, government agencies, and industry leaders to promote the
institute’s initiatives.
Academic Excellence:
Provide academic leadership and oversight to faculty, ensuring high-quality
educational programmes, research, and training.
Enhance existing programmes and develop new programs to address emerging needs in sanitation and waste management.
Developing and maintaining a vibrant research culture including the promotion of research initiatives and networks.
Administrative Management:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the institute including budgeting,
financial management, and resource allocation.
Recruit, develop, and retain highly qualified staff members.
Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment that promotes diversity,
equity, and inclusion.
External Relations and Fundraising:
Cultivate and maintain relationships with government agencies, industry
partners, and community organizations to advance the institute’s mission and
objectives.
Seek external funding opportunities through grant applications, partnerships,
and fundraising activities.
Quality Assurance and Accreditation:
Ensure compliance with relevant accreditation standards and regulatory
requirements.
Establish and maintain quality assurance processes to continually improve the institute’s programs and services.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of academic programs and support
services.
Legal and Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
Manage legal and contractual matters, including agreements, licenses, and
partnerships.
Stay informed about changes in legislation and regulations related to sanitation and waste management.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATION
Education/ Experience
Ph.D./DBA in a relevant field, such as Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
Proven track record of academic leadership and administrative experience in a university/polytechnic or research institution.
Expertise in sanitation and waste management, with a strong understanding of current practices, trends, and challenges in the field.
Strong networking and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage stakeholders from academia, industry, and government.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate faculty, staff, and students.
Experience in fundraising, grant writing, and external relationship management.
Knowledge of quality assurance and accreditation processes in higher education
Above 10 years of relevant experience
