BRAC is one of the largest NGOs implementing six programs in the thematic areas of Health,
Education, Ultra-Poor Graduation, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Empowerment and
Livelihood for Adolescents, and Financial Inclusion.
This role will establish the Investigation unit at BRAC International supporting all BRAC
International countries of operation. Key responsibilities include: providing strategic leadership
and managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, developing policies and guidelines on
investigation applicable for BRAC International entities of operation ensuring alignment with
international standards and best practices, establishing organization-wide systems for
investigations and building the capacity of BRAC International countries, ensuring that
investigations are conducted into allegations related to safeguarding and sexual misconduct,
fraud, corruption, and other forms of misconduct in a timely and effective manner, maintaining the
highest degree of confidentiality and sensitivity.
The ideal candidate will maintain the highest ethical standards, have strong interpersonal,
communication, and training skills, able to build up trusted relationships and influence a range of
internal stakeholders and partners across geographic locations and programs, together with
proven experience and skills to deal appropriately with sensitive and confidential issues and
champion best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
.Lead the Investigation Unit of BRAC International, prepare strategic plans, and budgets,
lead the day-to-day operations of the unit, and report to BI senior leadership.
.Update BRAC International’s investigation guidelines and protocols in alignment with
changes to international standards and best practices
.Implement guidelines and practices for investigations, ensuring application of due process
principles for BRAC International, considering legal aspects of BI countries of operation.
.Develop a pool of trained investigators from different operating countries to conduct
impartial and confidential investigations and produce high-quality reports for taking
disciplinary actions.
.Lead the development and maintenance of an organizational-wide grievance reporting
and tracking system and analyze trends of cases.
.Lead in the conduct of sensitive investigations related to safeguarding, particularly
incidents of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment (SEAH)
.Lead any special inspections, investigations, examinations or reviews on frauds and
corruption, suspect cases or irregularities requested by the senior management.
.Review and analyze allegations and whistleblowing information to determine relevancy
and reliability.
.Supervise and provide guidance to investigators, experts, and consultants to ensure that
their work conforms to established standards and is completed in a timely manner.
.Arrange training, refreshers and facilitate orientation sessions for capacity and skill
development of BI.
.Establish and maintain a comprehensive case management system for the effective
tracking, management of and reporting on cases at all stages of investigations.
.Maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding data and information.
Safeguarding:
.Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and
exploitation to achieve the programs goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a
key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe
working environment.
.Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members
and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action.
.Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place,
encourage others to do so.
Educational Requirements:
.Master’s degree or equivalent in Law, Human Resources, Grievance Management,
Criminal justice or related field.

.Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint skills
Experience Requirements:
.A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar role in an international organization
.Certification in investigations related to sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment
(SEAH) preferable but not essential
.Working knowledge of labor laws and regulatory processes in Africa and South Asia is
preferable but not essential
