  • Located in Nairobi, Kenya, their reach extends to other cities in Kenya.   Our client is looking to recruit a forward-thinking, diverse manager, with a legal background, dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services and positively impacting the legal industry.

Role: Head of Operations

  • They seek a highly skilled and experienced Head of Operations to join the team. The successful candidate will be pivotal in overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, client satisfaction, and profitability. The Head of Operations should be visionary and have proven leadership, mentoring, and relationship management experience. This position requires a unique blend of legal expertise, leadership acumen, and business savviness.
  • This full-time position is based in Kenya, and it is open to candidates with the right to work in Kenya.

Key Tasks/ Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

  • Spearheading the fulfillment of the firm’s vision and mission
  • Developing and overseeing the implementation of the firm’s strategic plan and goals
  • Providing leadership to the team
  • Modelling and re-enforcing the firm’s values and culture to create a productive and engaging culture defined by passion, high expectations, job satisfaction and results-oriented.

Leading and overseeing the firm’s departments, including: –

  • Legal
  • Finance
  • HR
  • Leading and overseeing the firm’s day-to-day operations and staff, with ultimate accountability for the success of the organization
  • Client Relations: Developing and managing client relations

Business Development

  • Creating relevant systems and structures to guide the firm’s operations
  • Overseeing recruitment, managing, engaging and mentoring staff and ensuring that staff deliver high-quality legal services to clients, and maintaining team cohesion

Succession planning

  • Deepening and refining all aspects of communications – from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.
  • Staying current with the changes in the legal landscape
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, tax, ethical and professional standards
  • Finance: Review financial documents, statements, reports, etc. and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Technology and Information Management: Overseeing the adoption and utilisation of technology tools and software within the firm to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and enhance client service.
  • Risk Management: Establishing and routinely assessing and updating Risk Management
  • All other duties and responsibilities that fall within the docket of the head of operations

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) or equivalent from an accredited University.
  • 8-10 years post-qualification experience as a practising Advocate/Attorney or Legal Head/Manager of a reputable firm/ company.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Good understanding of managing business finances and financial statements.
  • Exceptional managerial skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Thorough understanding of the legal industry and the challenges faced by law firms.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to identify opportunities for growth and profitability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A commitment to achieving high levels of all-round excellence.
  • A strong track record of leading teams to achieve ambitious results.
  • Ability to think strategically, drive business analysis, and solve problems creatively and effectively.
