KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Assist the Head/HSSE, MHSSE on the regular collection and collation of all S&S information across the SCI mission and compute same in the system, using appropriate software and hardware.
  • HSSE assessment of all programme locations in the state, technical analysis/advisory of same to all staff and programme stakeholders in Kaduna state.
  • Technical support for the Kaduna team in trip planning from trip requests, movement tracking/records, follow-up on travel SoPs compliance, movement tracking/timing and file a trip completion records and report trip stoppages and hitches for immediate follow-up.
  • Technical support for the Kaduna team in the preparation of Safety and security related reports.
  • Collect/collate and report up-line, health, safety, security and environment related incidents internally and externally.
  • Preparation and delivery of HSSE trainings and capacity building for all programmes staff in the Kaduna office.
  • Monitor Fleet activities and all other Road Safety activities and report on all breaches.
  • Carry out any other duty/responsibilities assigned by the leadership at the CO and the FO aimed at effective HSSE management in the Field Office (FO) and Nigeria Country Office.

SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS 

  •  Information Gathering and analysis using good knowledge of security management practice and technologies used in the sector.
  • Good understanding of INGOs programming.
  • Good knowledge of Fraud and criminal investigation procedures and methods.
  • Critical thinking and excellent logical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Office programs like word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Nose-for-news’ and ability to spot flaws in systems.
  • Have good communication and presentations/Training skills.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Levels 1,2,3 Certification in HSE from a reputable global organization, with a minimum of three years’ experience in HSE compliant organization
  • Experience in liaising with civilian, police and military government authorities, as well as with field level national and international institutions.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in INGOs Safety and Security Management in complex and insecure settings
  • Ability and willingness to travel within across Nigeria is essential.
  • Demonstrable network of contacts within Nigeria
  • Computer literate –  Strong Competency in Internet; online work environment and other database/mapping systems.
  • Able to use Microsoft office Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and spoken English leading to the ability to produce a high standard of both written and oral work
  • Ability to analyse safety and security information
  • The ability to work harmoniously in a multi-national / multi-cultural environment.
  • The ability to work independently, multi-task and anticipate problems
  • Ability to speak the local languages (Hausa) is a strong advantage.

  • Participation in S&S Trainings i.e. HEAST, Incident Management Training (IMT) are desirable.
