Job description

Under the guidance and leadership of the Ministry of Health and- Regional Health Bureaus the CG coordinator is expected to work closely with US CDC and AFENET to execute the following activities:

  • Provide technical input for the CDC-Ethiopia CG work plan development for FY24-28.
  • Work closely with partners to provide guidance for successful implementation of CG activities.
  • Lead the development and implementation of activities for all CG work.
  • Ensure CG activities are conducted and implemented within designated timelines.
  • Lead M&E activities for all CG work in the chosen subnational areas based on defined outcomes.
  • Oversee data and analysis to monitor progress and timely realization of CG activity deliverables.
  • Work with GID Extramural Team, CDC-Ethiopia Partner Management Group (PMG), and other CDC team members to track CG funding and expenses.
  • Facilitate quarterly immunization program review meetings with partners in coordination with PMG.
  • Coordinate with CDC-Ethiopia Regional Support Teams (RST) to conduct quarterly site visits to subnational geographies (Amhara and Oromia Regional Health Bureaus) to provide in-country technical assistance and supervision for international and national consultants hired through implementing partners.
  • Organize and support the implementation and completion of high level, collaborative CG related work and initiatives between CDC/GID and other international public health partners, inclusive of the World Health Organization (WHO), Ministries of Health and other partners to meet CG/GID goals.
  • Support CDC sponsored immunization capacity building activities and workshops.
  • Provide logistical support and coordination for CDC HQ visitors to Ethiopia for immunization related work.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Submit timely brief reports for the MOH EPI manager, CDC and AFENET
  • Perform other related work activities as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Minimum qualification: Master’s degree in public health, health administration, maternal and child health, health education, health sciences or related field is required.

Experience:

  • Experience: Minimum of five years of professional health experience, including a high degree of demonstrated managerial, analytical, and leadership skills, particularly in planning public health activities, project management, monitoring and evaluation, and managing public health programs is required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in vaccine-preventable disease prevention, routine immunization programing, infectious disease surveillance, and infectious disease outbreak response.

Languages:

  • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in English and Amharic.
