As an Impact Monitoring Officer (IMO), you will play a central role in collecting accurate, high-quality data. You will work closely with the Impact Monitoring Supervisor and field teams, supporting both qualitative and quantitative research activities across various locations in Uganda. This is a field-intensive role that requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of research ethics and data integrity.
The IMO recruitment targets youth below 32 years old, aiming for 70% young women. People with disability are encouraged to apply for this position. Applicants should meet the required qualifications and skills for the position.
This is a fixed-term contract role for a period of one (1) year, renewable based on individual performance and project needs.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

    • Conducting initial and follow-up interviews with youth in wage and self-employment, and enterprises according to the sampling plan while ensuring a proper, rigorous, and ethical consenting process to successfully and ethically obtain participant consent.
    • The role also involves adhering to the study’s data quality assurance protocols to maintain accuracy and reliability, as well as managing and uploading collected data into the CommCare platform or other specified systems.
    • Additionally, responsibilities extend to supporting longitudinal data collection efforts by enhancing participant retention, maintaining an up-to-date database of participants, and ensuring that those who wish to withdraw from the study can do so promptly and seamlessly.
    • Assisting in the preparation of periodic field reports and data collection activities.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or a related field or equivalent (Diploma plus 2 years’ experience)
    • At least 2 years of experience in primary data collection, including monitoring and evaluation (M&E) in development programs.
    • Demonstrated experience conducting fieldwork in both urban and rural environments.
    • Fluent in English and local dialect for respective regions.

    • Adaptability: Willingness to live in the respective locations and travel extensively,  including remote areas, to conduct fieldwork.
    • Ability to support capacity-building sessions and support in pre-test sessions for data collection tools.
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills and experience using laptops, tablets, and GPS recording.
    • Proficiency in digital data collection tools (e.g., ODK, SurveyCTO, CommCare) is an added advantage.
