JOB PURPOSE
To analyze, design, implement, maintain, and optimize information systems that support UWA’s operations. The Systems Analyst ensures that UWA’s digital platforms are efficient, secure, integrated, and aligned with organizational needs and national ICT standards.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Systems Analysis & Design
- Gather and document user requirements from departments and protected areas.
- Conduct feasibility studies (technical, financial, operational) for proposed systems.
- Develop system specifications, workflows, data models, and architecture designs.
- Recommend improvements to existing systems to enhance efficiency and performance.
- Recommend technical solutions to improve workflows and automate manual processes across UWA operations.
B. Systems Development & Integration
- Participate in development, customization, and deployment of enterprise applications.
- Integrate UWA systems such as wildlife monitoring platforms, ticketing solutions, HRMIS, and financial systems.
- Coordinate with developers, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure system functionality meets UWA requirements.
- Support data analytics initiatives to improve decision-making in conservation and operations.
C. Project Management
- Participate in planning and implementing ICT projects in line with UWA’s strategic plans.
- Prepare project budgets, timelines, and progress reports.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and participate in procurement processes for information systems.
D. Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all systems comply with national ICT policies, cybersecurity standards, and UWA’s operational guidelines.
- Support the development and enforcement of ICT policies, SOPs, and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- Honors Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from a recognized University.
Added Advantage
- Certifications such as ITIL, COBIT, CEH, or database administration credentials.
Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in systems analysis, development, or administration in a reputable organization.
- Experience with enterprise systems, databases (SQL/Oracle), APIs, and system integration.
Key Competencies

- Proficiency in systems modelling and documentation tools.
- Good understanding of database management, networking, and cybersecurity.
