Job description

Your duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure that appropriate ground and slope performance monitoring devices (Radars, Total stations, VWPs, and prisms) are serviced and maintained, and systems health reports are sent out daily to the geotechnical manager.
  • Ensure all equipment is serviced and calibrated as per requirements. This will include, among other things, Slope Monitoring Radars, Robotic Total Stations, Blast vibrations, monitoring tools and borehole flow meters.
  • Ensure both the Radar and the Prism monitoring instrumentations are kept clean and inspected regularly.
  • Work with the survey team to maximize the availability of the prism monitoring system
  • Liaise with the instrument OEM/Suppliers and ensure maintenance contracts for all monitoring systems are up to date.
  • Ensure stock of maintenance kit/tools for the equipment is maintained to keep systems running without interruptions due to lack of service or maintenance.
  • Ensure Servicing and maintenance of all dewatering pumps for optimum dewatering performance
  • Ensure stock of spare dewatering pumps and other accessories is well maintained.
  • Ensure the data loggers on all vibrating wire piezometers are maintained and in good condition.
  • Prepare and manage the budget for the geotechnical and hydrological instrumentation.
  • Develop and maintain all SOPs relating to equipment maintenance.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to assist subordinates to work through the geotechnical skills matrix, thus providing technical progression and allow for succession planning.
  • Ensure that all works carried out comply with procedural, safety, quality and design requirements.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • Minimum two (4) years’ experience
  • Experience Slope monitoring radars and Borehole pumps
  • Holder of a valid Zambian Drivers License
  • Be physically fit and be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination.
