Certify that the plant instrumentation equipment is efficiently and effectively maintained at optimum
cost and in compliance with the HSE regulations.
Roles and responsibilities
Maintenance Operations
• Certify all Plant instruments (Weigh feeders, gas analyzers, opacimeters, dust monitors,
CEMS, fire alarm systems, shell scanners, kiln cameras, VFDs, etc) are maintained and
calibrated routinely according to approved schedules.
• Integrate new and revamped instruments into the existing structure, document and
commission them.
• Write the Logic diagrams, PLC programs and design CCR graphic displays for
new/revamped equipment. Responsible for integration of hardware/software modifications
and their commissioning.
• Rectify, record and report any control system equipment failure.
• Carryout robust troubleshooting of instrumentation failures in the Plant
• Perform high quality repair work and communicate and keep record of findings for future
reference.
• Perform regular inspection of Plant instruments and fix and report anomalies.
• Contribute to the analysis of equipment failures & problems, recommending and executing
best corrective actions.
• Perform trial of equipment after maintenance activities.
• Keep all instrument rooms in the Plant clean from dust.
• Request for purchase of required Instrumentation spare parts as need arises.
• Certify timely readiness to efficiently tackle emergencies or urgent breakdowns as planned
with N+1.
Maintenance and Optimization Operations
Execute weekly work orders according to preventive maintenance plans or scheduled
corrective maintenance actions as assigned by N+1.
• Participate in development of execution job plans for all Instrumentation maintenance
activities.
• Responsible for revising and updating process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
• Certify the development, review and implementation of Instrumentation Standard Operating
procedures (SOPs).
• Challenge and improve existing instrumentation maintenance and calibration schedules for
specialised equipment;
• Propose and implement Plant optimization and cost reduction initiatives in line with
Process/Production/Maintenance requirements and in extension of instrumentation
equipment life.
• Certify consistency in information flow between the plant instruments and the control
systems. Cooperate with Process/Production/Preventive Maintenance/Safety teams in the
execution of scheduled maintenance actions and proposed improvement actions,
• RCA actions to improve Plant performance and ensure safety of men and equipment, and
compliance to Standards.
Management – Planning & Cost control
• Support the Systems Engineer in the control of the maintenance budget, ensuring planning
and follow-up on key tasks & costs through proposing and executing effective solutions to
achieve budget and to meet or exceed targets for Plant instruments.
• Keep record of Maintenance interventions and calibration records of Plant critical
instruments like weigh feeders, gas analysers, fire alarm system, opacimeters, etc in
collaboration with Quality and Process departments.
• Identify sensitive data and parameters and perform planned backups of them.
Standards
• Perform all duties in compliance with Holcim Standards for Plant Instrumentation systems,
Supervise Instrumentation contractors’ studies and works to ensure Holcim standards are
met.
• Take part in the technical training of plant personnel to ensure correct usage of the plant
instruments and measuring/weighing systems. Comply with regulations, company goals,
Rules, local permits, policies and procedures; optimize the internal processes and
structures
OH&S and Environment
• Incorporate and ensure individual and team safety culture in all activities. Compliance with
Group Health, Safety and Environment regulations to ensure zero harm.
• Keep all areas of jurisdiction clean and tidy.
• Attend Health, Safety and Environment trainings organized by the Plant
