BACKGROUND AND PIRPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT Short Description

WFP Tanzania through its Country Strategic Plan (CSP, 2022-2027) is supporting the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania to deliver equitable and inclusive economic growth through investments in human capital, resilient livelihoods, and nutritious diets. Key priorities in the CSP includes providing policy-level advocacy and technical assistance to national systems on school feeding and nutrition towards improving the nutrition situation using a lifecycle approach and contribute to better learning experience.

Thus, the WFP Tanzania Country Office in Dar es Salaam is seeking to fill an internship position for 10 months to provide project management and coordination support to the Nutrition and School Feeding team under the Programme Unit.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide day-day project management and coordination support to nutrition and school feeding programmes ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures.
• Undertake mapping of school feeding and school health and nutrition stakeholders in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar to support the delivery of integrated school-based programmes.

• Support the development of a strategy on the engagement of civil society organizations and private sector in nutrition and school feeding programming.

• Support the development of communication and knowledge products including infographics for resource mobilization, advocacy, information and other purposes targeting different audiences.
• Contribute to documentation of nutrition and school feeding programmes and activities and support the preparation of accurate and timely reports and briefs on nutrition and school feeding programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.

• Support to enhance knowledge management including updating the repository for the Nutrition and School Feeding Team utilizing innovative tools and approaches.
• Liaise with Programme unit staff and other those of other units as appropriate to ensure effective collaboration to facilitate timely delivery of priorities.
• Perform other tasks related to this activity.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
The following will be deliverables of this consultancy during and after completion of the activity:
i. Effective project management and coordination support provided to the Nutrition and School Feeding Team.

ii. School feeding and school health and nutrition stakeholders mapped to support the delivery of integrated school-based programmes.

iii. Strategy on the engagement of civil society and private for nutrition and school feeding finalized.
iv. Communication materials and knowledge products developed.
v. Reports and documentation on nutrition and school feeding activities developed timely and with high quality.

vi. Knowledge management for the Nutrition and School Feeding Team improved and the repository for the Team is up to date.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
• Currently enrolled in a Postgraduate (Master’s) programme;
• Recent graduate (from an Undergraduate or Postgraduate Programme) within six months prior to application for the internship and attended classes in the last 12 months of enrolment with the University.

• Preferred field of study: Project Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Development Studies/ International Development, Social Sciences, or other relevant University Degree.

Experience
• Minimum of 6 months to 2 years of experience in project management, coordination or related experience.
• Experience working with Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations, Food processing industries, Government and the United Nations will be an added advantage.
• Experience in developing communication materials and knowledge products will be an added advantage.
• Experience in conducting desk or literature reviews, stakeholder mapping and developing strategies will be an added advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and to coordinate inputs from variety of actors.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
• Knowledge about Project Management and Knowledge Management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in complex, multicultural settings.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to priorities tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Analytical and detail oriented.
• Proactive and resourceful, with a willingness to take initiative and learn new skills.
• Flexible and adaptable, able to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Creative and innovative thinking.
Languages: Fluency in English and Swahili.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
• Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP every per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
• WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, and related costs.
• WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognized institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
