The Opportunity

As an International Accounting Manager (IAM) you are responsible for the accounting and reporting of international operations. You are a key participant in the design, improvement and maintenance of procedures and systems with particular emphasis on accounting reconciliations and process improvement. 

Core Responsibilities

  • On a weekly basis review Project Operational Reports (Remote Office Voucher (ROV)) for accuracy and completeness and upload transactions into Oracle.  
  • Reviews and assists in the preparation of reconciliations and related analysis for all international locations.  Recommends corrective action if any for use of incorrect expenditure types and indirect expenses.  
  • Indirectly oversees and assists international accountants in the successful execution of their responsibilities. Assist in the identification and implementation of improvements and efficiencies in transaction processing. Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures.
  • Participate in annual reviews and work with project teams to incorporate performance goals and objectives. Provide regular feedback on performance to the Site Accountant’s supervisor. 
  • Provides International Accounting Training to Site Office/Home Office Finance Teams
  • Supports External Corporate Audits and Tax
  • Assist in the improvement and implementation of automated processes. These include time and expense accounting in an Oracle environment and local disbursement accounting currently conducted in QuickBooks. 
  • Internal interaction is primarily with peers and supervisors. External interaction is typically with site office accounting teams, Chief of Party and team leaders. The primary purpose of liaison is information sharing and basic problem resolution. 
  • Fosters a team spirit and service orientation. 
  • Participate in project start up and close out. 

What We Value

  • Bachelor’s Degree + Five years of relevant experience, or Master’s Degree + Three years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity with accounting in a US government-contracting environment. 
  • U.S. government (USAID) administrative and compliance experience 
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks Software is required
  • Knowledge of Oracle is a plus 
  • Ability to interact, train, and communicate clearly with overseas staff on accounting and non-accounting matters.
  • Demonstrated international accounting skills and experience required.
  • Proficiency in a second language (French, Spanish, Swahili) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in working with and improving automated accounting processes
