How can you make a difference?

The International MICS Consultant (IMC) will support and provide guidance to the UNICEF Country Office and the National Statistics Office (NSO) in the preparation, implementation and completion of the MICS survey in the country. This will include:

Planning the survey

Enumeration and mapping, training and field monitoring, data processing

Data analysis and report writing

Participate in all regional and/or national MICS workshops

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have.

  • A Master degree in Demography, Statistics, Social Sciences Epidemiology, or any other relevant technical field is required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in the required language(s);
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the coordination and/or management of quantitative household surveys (previous experience of MICS or Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) required)
  • Strong computer skills and expertise in statistical analysis (familiarity with data processing and analysis software, in particular SPSS)
  • Experience in data collection using CAPI.
  • Experience in training and ability to organise and facilitate training and make presentations
  • Experience in data analysis and survey report writing.An advanced university degree (master’s or higher) in evaluation, education, sociology, humanitarian assistance, or other social sciences is required

Additional requirements:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Knowledge and previous experience of working in the country(ies) and/or region highly desirable.

Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and to establish harmonious and effective relations both within and outside the organisation, more specifically with national statistical offices/institutes.

Demonstrated leadership, management and supervisory skills.

Ability and willingness to travel extensively within the country and to attend regional workshops.
