This is a new role, created to support the International Finance Team. The role
contributes to the improvement of the quality of project finance and the collection of
financial information from Bible Societies. The Administrator will work primarily with a
defined cluster of up to 35 Bible Societies and also support Financial Account Managers(FAMs) on specific duties.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop and maintain relationships with Bible Societies (BS) that are part of the
allocated portfolio and remain adequately informed about their project’s finances.
2. Provide regular reports to the Financial Account Manager (FAM) for Africa on the
status of, and any issues or challenges arising in the Bible Societies in the portfolio.
3. Review project budgets and inform the Financial Account Manager and ISP manager
about any identified issue and recommend adjustments if necessary.
4. Approve Project Reports, seeking assistance from Finance Account Managers, ISP
Managers or other specialists where necessary.
5. Identify and report issues in project reporting on Solomon.
6. Understand the regulatory environments and individual requirements of Donor Bible
Societies and apply this knowledge to the review of project budgets and reports.
7. Contribute to the continuous improvement of projects budgeting and reporting,
adapting to the changing needs of implementing and resourcing Bible Societies.
8. Participate in the UBS Reputation Management system, ensuring appropriate
communication of breaches of standards or potential risks in the Bible Societies with
which contacts are maintained.
9. Ensure that each BS in the portfolio adheres to UBSAs developed minimum
international reporting standards and that each BS provides audited accounts within
a maximum of 5 months after their financial year- end.
10. Report to the Financial Account Manager, any qualified auditor’s report or reports
that have not been submitted. Make sure that BS Affiliates send both the Auditor’s
report and the Auditor’s Management Letter.
11. Any other relevant task as requested by the Financial Account Managers or the International Finance Team Leader.
Essential Experiences and Skills
● At least three (3) years of experience in financial processes (accounting, reporting,
auditing and compliance), including two (2) in an international financial environment.
● Operational experience working in an International business.
● Degree in a relevant finance or accounting field.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
● Experience in operating in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity to different
world views and varying opinions in the financial world.
● Experienced in relationship building and networking
● Knowledge of, and experience with finance software used in the mid-market.
● Good knowledge of Excel for analysis and reporting purposes.
● Experience in working with globally networked teams, a track record in using all
available communication tools in the context of a dispersed staff team, and keeping
strict deadlines.
● Organized, logical and methodical with good attention to detail.
● Flexible and able to deal with a demanding workload.
● Having a curious and inquiring mind: open to other cultures and perspectives.
● Open to continuous learning and development.
● Comfortable working in a Christian organization with sensitivity to the breadth of
church support that UBS enjoys.
Desirable
● Experience working with (or for) a Bible Society or an International Non-
Governmental Organization (INGO), and an understanding of the dynamics of how
they operate, and how their projects are managed.
● Excellent communication and numeracy skills.
● Willing to undertake occasional international travel.
