The Environment and Biodiversity Intern at EACOP will be instrumental in supporting environmental and biodiversity initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and contributing to the overall sustainability of the project.

Responsibilities:
- Biodiversity Monitoring:
- Assist in conducting biodiversity assessments and monitoring programs along the pipeline route.
- Collect and analyze data related to flora and fauna, documenting any observed changes or impacts.
- Environmental Compliance:
- Support the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process by reviewing and ensuring adherence to environmental regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of environmental management plans.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to promote biodiversity conservation and sustainable environmental practices e.g. NEMA, NFA
- Facilitate community awareness programs on the importance of biodiversity and environmental stewardship.
- Data Management:
- Organize and maintain databases containing environmental and biodiversity-related information.
- Prepare regular reports on biodiversity status, environmental compliance, and sustainability initiatives.
- Research and Analysis:
- Stay updated on current environmental and biodiversity research and trends.
- Contribute to research projects that enhance the understanding of the project’s impact on the environment and biodiversity.
Key Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Engineering or a related field from recognized University
- Must provide Introduction letter from university and copy of student I.D.
- Must provide a partial transcript / testimonial showing current academic scores with a minimum of an
upper-second degree. - Must be available full-time for the duration of the internship period.
- Must write and submit an internship application letter.
Context and environment
- The Environment and Biodiversity Intern will be based in the EACOP Office.
- The Environment and Biodiversity Intern will report to the Environment and Biodiversity Manager EACOP.
- He/she will interact with Project teams and Construction Contractor teams on a continuous basis with the guidance of the Environment and Biodiversity Team.
- He/She is responsible for ensuring and maintaining good relationships between the EACOP and all its stakeholders and the local community.
