This role is required to deliver small to medium projects assuring timely delivery and appropriate quality of new systems and upgrades to critical global IT services covering the full portfolio of applications and services offered by Global IT.

Project Budgets of between £50K and £500K

Project teams may consist of both internal and external resources and as such this role will manage the project relationship with external suppliers as necessary.

They will be a key member of the IT Project Delivery team and will help shape and revise project management processes that will enhance project delivery and system adoption.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

· Project manage small/medium size projects as assigned by the IT Management Team

· Establish appropriate project controls, including

o Risk & Issues Management

o Change Control to reduce and mitigate scope creep

o Budget forecasting

o Resource/Task reviews

o Monthly or Weekly Status reporting as appropriate

· Ensure that standard PLAN project processes are followed

· Ensure clear responsibilities for both IT & Business Resources are agreed and understood

· Oversee projects risk to minimise risk and exposure on projects and programs of change.

· Negotiate internal staff resources required to complete projects from inception to completion, and formally account for the use of allocated resources. Cooperate with business peers to gain the necessary resources required to service projects and then to give management and leadership to assigned people

Carry out formal project closure, including lessons learned

Ø Key success factors will be projects delivered on time at cost with positive project closure reviews and realisation of agreed project benefits.

DEALING WITH PROBLEMS

· Review issues and propose and agree solutions with project team. Escalate to management team as required.

· Identify and review possible obstacles to the successful adoption of any new or enhanced service.

· Creative mind to propose alternative project plans when existing Plan is compromised

COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

· High level of contact with business colleagues across all levels of the organisational structure across all Plan International entities, functions and locations.

· High level of contact with external partners to ensure understanding of brief and delivery.

· High level of contact with central IT managers and technical staff holding regular status meetings to ensure projects and program of work is on track

Additional responsibilities:

·· Support the departmental project manager’s in the delivery of their projects

· Supporting other teams and administrators within the organisation as and when needed.

· The Child Protection Policy (CPP) is fully embedded in accordance with the CPP Implementation standards as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under the CPP and Code of Conduct (CoC), its relevance to their area of work and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.

Dealing with Problems:

· Applying some judgement, utilising tools and experience to solve problems as they arise. Escalating where necessary. Solutions will generally be based on experience or existing procedures, requiring flexibility and an ability to propose options.

· Ability to perform and deliver under pressure within deadlines.

Ensures that Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant Implementation Standards and Guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

· Project Management skills using a variety of formal methodologies such as Prince2 and informal styles

· Skilled in the use of computer based Project Management tools such as MS Project

· Experienced at liaising and translating between technology and business needs.

· Strong facilitation and communications skills.

· Strong influencing and negotiation skills

Knowledge

· Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design

· General understanding of Internet, Intranet, Extranet and client/server architectures

· General understanding or experience of ERP solutions

· Good general knowledge of IT applications and services

· Maintains awareness of emerging technologies and potential application on operations environments

· Familiar with risk and financial management concepts

· Good organisational and co-ordination skills being able to successfully manage time, plans, projects and other related tasks

· Able to prioritise work effectively for execution with limited resources

Experience

· PRINCE2, PMP,APM certified or equivalent

· Two years’ experience in small, mid and large-scale project management, preferably for IT technical projects

· An established track record of delivering systems to the satisfaction of business owners

· Experienced in full project lifecycle for application development: requirements gathering and analysis, solution design and realisation, testing and implementation
